Fellow Managers,
Because this year is the thirteenth, and thus creepiest iteration of Baldelli’s Modern Life, I asked Chat GTP to write a league intro message and freak us all out. Here’s what it wrote :
“Welcome back, fantasy baseball managers! As we gear up for another season of thrills and chills on the diamond, let’s take a moment to reflect on the role of superstition in America’s favorite pastime. Some players won’t step on the foul line, others refuse to change their socks during a winning streak. And then there’s the number 13 – widely regarded as an unlucky number in many cultures, and a source of anxiety for some baseball fans. From Babe Ruth hitting his 713th home run on Friday the 13th, to the Miami Marlins losing 13-0 on September 13th, 2020, there’s no shortage of eerie coincidences surrounding this infamous digit. But fear not, my friends – with a little bit of skill and a lot of luck, we’ll conquer the baseball gods once again this year. Let’s play ball!”
With those eerie silicon words so well said, it’s time to move on to league business.
Business:
- League dues: They are $200, due before draft day. Venmo @Misha-Tenenbaum. I have a record of those who opted to use prize money for league dues this year, so no worries there. If there is any reason you want to play but need a little more time paying dues, message me privately and I’ll grant an extension with no questions asked.
- If you do not intend to play this year, let me know ASAP so I can contact our reserve managers. Just know I will try to talk you out of leaving because NO ONE GETS OUT ALIVE!
Important Dates:
- Division Picks: I will contact division winners It’s Milk Time and Alternative Bats to set the date soon.
- Keeper Deadline: Monday, March 20th
- Draft Day: (Suggested) Sunday, March 26th
- Let me know ASAP is there is any reason you absolutely cannot make this date. Our likely next best option is to move the draft early in the month.
- MLB Opening Day: March 30th.

Rule Updates:
- Roster changes switched back to – daily tomorrow instead of the same day. That was a nightmare for west coast people as we couldn’t drop most players once games started at 1 pm PST.
- NA Keepers – Each manager may keep a player listed as NA at the end of the 2022 season for $1 instead of the keeper minimum of $5.
Keepers:
- Instead of attaching a keepers list, this year I created a Google Sheet so you can access it anytime and so I could add it to the website. I will not update the sheet until the deadline, or until everyone has declared their keepers, whichever comes first.
- As a reminder, you *may* keep up to three players, but you’re not required to keep any.
- Under the collective bargaining agreement first-year keepers have a minimum value of $5. Second-year keepers get a $5 raise from last year’s price. Third-year is another $5 raise. No manager may keep a player beyond the third kept-year, even if a manager trades the player to a new team.
Contact list:
- Attached is the most up-to-date manager contact list. Please check your information and make sure that it is accurate.
- It’s more fun when every manager can contact the others for trading.
Play ball!
