Fellow Managers,
The MLB lockout is over, and Baldelli’s Modern XII Life is BACK! — Not war, nor pandemic, nor college graduation can stop us. Commissioner Manfred read our letter and capitulated, establishing a complete 162 game season with opening day set for the first week in April.
League dues are $200 (no inflation here!) due ASAP.
Important Dates
- Division Picks: Sunday, March 20th between It’s Milk Time and CoMeesh.
- Keeper Deadline: Monday, March 28th
- Draft Day: (proposed), Sunday, April 3rd *preferred. Alternate Wednesday, April 6th.
New rules for this season:
- FAAB budget – Removing it.
- FAAB doesn’t make sense unless all players in the available pool stay on wavers perpetually and don’t become free agents.
- Keepers – Each manager may keep a player listed as NA at the end of the 2022 season and beyond for $1 instead of the keeper minimum of $5.
- Payouts – Rebalance, playoff birth up to $100 (half your money back for a top 8 finish), first place down to $800, best record down to $200. Add consolation bracket prize winner $100.
- I need to double-check the totals
- 5X5 Categories
- Switching to Saves + Holds
- Switching AVG to OBP
- There was debate about OPS instead, but in the view of this office, the goal is to pick categories that expand the value of the widest widest array of players in the pool so as to offer more management strategies and root for more players. OPS kills speedy on base guys (like Ichiro) and boosts sluggers, something we already have a problem with in this league.
- Free agency – Removal of 4th add/drop for playoffs.
- Yard Sale Precedent – Yard sales are permissible. To ensure there is no collusion only, the commissioner will review and approve any trade within 30 days of the trade deadline of a top 100 player going to another team that is not giving up a top 100 player.
Possibly to Change: To be determined in the next week by league debate and commissioner decision (not a vote):
- Playoffs – Two-week rounds instead of one week?
- Free agency – Change add player next day to add a player same day?
- Most managers wanted this change but I want to confirm with the league.
Keepers: The most up-to-date keeper list is attached. As a reminder, you *may* keep up to three players, but you’re not required to keep any.
The collective bargaining agreement for fantasy baseball players agreed on the following terms: first-year keepers have a minimum value of $5. Second-year keepers get a $5 raise from last year’s keeper price. Third-year is another $5 raise. No manager may keep a player beyond the third kept-year, even if a manager traded the player to a new team.
Contact list: Attached is the most up-to-date manager contact list. Please check your information and make sure that it is accurate.
